The Magnificent 8

Once again I would like to tell the 8 players, that took on the undefeated 1^st place Carleton Place team on Tuesday night, how proud Paul and I were of them and their efforts.  With one affiliate, 7 skaters and a goalie played their hearts out.  Carleton Place on the other hand had their full roster except one which they filled with their top minor midget player.  Outshot 22 – 0 in the first, Stittsville were so close to keeping Carleton Place off the board, until an unlucky tip allowed Carleton Place to score with just 7 seconds left in the first.  The second period was more of the save, but Stittsville was able to get a few scoring chances of their own.  The third was a shooting gallery with Carleton Place getting 42 shots on goal, not including the multitude of shots that were blocked.  Stittsville kept their cool, never took a penalty or gave up the entire game. Despited being exhausted players were blokcing shots up unitl the final horn sounded.  It was probably the best 6-0 loss I’ve ever been involved in.  Final shots were 87-7 and all the Stittsville players still had the character to smile and have a laugh in the room afterward.
