Guidelines and Rules

2013-10-25

I know these have been sent out in an email but our coach, but a good suggestion was made to have them accessible via the web site.

The following is a review of the guidelines and rules that we will be following this season.

1.       Due to insurance we are only allowed to have our 7 registered team staff on the bench or on the ice. Therefore no parents are allowed in the bench area or on the ice during practice or during a game.

2.       Players must wear full hockey equipment while on the ice. This includes neck guards and mouth guards. Players will not be allowed on the ice if any items are missing or deemed unsafe.

3.       Mouth guards are mandatory and must be worn at all times. Please remind your child to keep their mouth guards in.

4.       Helmets and masks must have CSA stickers.

5.       Dress Room Safety – fingers and toes must be covered when on or near the floor. No walking around in socks or bare feet. Goalies must wear gloves while having pads strapped to legs.

6.       Parents must be present at the rink during all practices and games, or have a guardian present.

7.       No pictures can be taken while in the dressing room.

8.       Please note that our team staff will be using the “2 Deep” rule and should be followed by all parents. There should be at least 2 adults in the dressing room at all times. This should also be followed when you are with your own child since it can be difficult for others to distinguish children with gear on.

9.       We will be using the following guidelines when we have to discipline players. On first offence, the player will be encouraged to apologize for their actions. On the second offence, the player will be required to sit out for 5mins. On the third offence, the player will be required to leave the ice for the remaining practice time. Typical actions that may require discipline is intentional hitting of other players, tripping other players, verbal abuse, etc. Basically any action that puts the safety of other players at risk or prevents other players from have positive experience.
