I would like to welcome you to IP Stittsville Minor Hockey. I am Tyler Nystedt and will be the convenor of IP this year.
The start of the season is fast approaching and to get ready we are offering four conditioning sessions which will be held on Sept 5, Sept 6, Sept 12 and Sept 13th. Your child is invited to attend the conditioning sessions on these days. These conditioning sessions will allow your child to practice the evaluation drills that they will be shown by the on-ice coaches. After attending these sessions your child will have a knowledge of the drills and be able to focus on showing their skills. If for some reason your child can not attend some of these sessions, do not worry. The reason we are having four conditioning sessions is that two of the sessions fall on Labour Day weekend and I understand many families will be away.
Please note FULL equipment is required for all sessions(child’s neck protector will be checked)
No child will be allowed on the ice if these requirements have not been met.
The dates for the conditioning and evaluations sessions are below. I have grouped them in alphabetical order. I will also be posting this on the SMHA website shortly (stittsvilleminorhockey.com). Please check regularly over the next while as it is easier to post information there than send 200 emails. There is an Ice Time Icon on the top of the web page, from there select IP Ice.
Please note that due to ice constraints and the complexity of the conditioning and evaluation process we are unable to change time slots for any player.
The Evaluation sessions will be September 19
th and 20th. These two sessions will mimic the conditioning sessions from the week before. In order for your child to be accurately assessed we ask that all players attend both these sessions. If for some reason you are unable to attend 1 or more of the evaluation sessions please let me know as soon as possible. Please let me know on the day of the evaluations of any medical concerns your child may have.
Parents, please don’t let the evaluation process be stressful. This is an exciting time for your child. The volunteers, coaches and myself are here to make sure your child is placed in the best possible environment with children of the same abilities in order to have the most rewarding and fun time imaginable.
As always we are actively recruiting volunteers for the upcoming season. We are still looking of coaches, assistant coaches, on ice helpers, trainers and managers. If you have not already, please let me know you’re interested in helping. On ice helpers for the conditioning and evaluation sessions are still needed and will be greatly appreciated. The more help we have on the ice for these sessions the better it will be for your children.
