We are looking forward to the 2013-14 hockey season and to continuing to build on the success of the SMHA, its teams, players, and coaches.
Last year was a successful year and this would not have been accomplished without the help of our exceptional volunteers of coaches, board members, and parents.
The SMHA is committed to its mission of providing an opportunity for all players to play recreational or competitive hockey in a safe and enjoyable environment.
In the coming season, the SMHA will continue to focus upon the following:
1. Providing both recreational and competitive hockey opportunities to its players;
2. Encouraging a high standard of self-discipline, teamwork and fair play on the part of coaches and players;
3. Developing players and coaches to their highest potential;
4. Protecting all members from all forms of bullying, abuse and harassment.
Hockey is a fun, fast and exciting game to play, coach and watch. However, in some unfortunate circumstances our members confuse the line between positive encouragement and unwelcome behaviour.
The following
Hockey Eastern Ontario policy serves as a reminder to all SMHA members that they shall conduct themselves in a fair and responsible manner and are to refrain from comments or behaviours that are disrespectful, offensive, abusive, racist or sexist.
We are looking forward to working with you in what we plan to be a very exciting and successful hockey season.
