Goalie Development for all SMHA goalies!!

SMHA Goalie Development

SMHA will be hosting Goalie Development Sessions starting Monday October 16th @ Beckwith.  This progressive program is anticipated to run every Monday evening right right through to the end of January (taking a break over the holidays). 

Please note:  There is no cost for SMHA goalies to attend, and no need to register.  This ice time is dedicated for Stittsville Goalie Development, and all SMHA goalies are encouraged to attend.

6:00pm - 7:00pm – U9 + U11 goalies only

7:00pm - 8:00pm – U13, U15, U18 goalies only

SMHA is fortunate enough to have Andrew Cobham leading these development sessions again for us this season.  Andrew has 30 years of goalie coaching experience (up to and including OHL and NCAA levels), so we know that our goalies will be in great hands.

Coach participation in these sessions will be paramount in ensuring that what our goalies are taught, can be brought back to practice, and worked on throughout the season.  For this reason, there is a hope (expectation) that coaches will attend at least 2 sessions throughout the season – and hopefully the same session (s) as your goalies.

Coaches will have the opportunity to not only observe the specialised training received by the goalies, but may also have the opportunity to oversee a specific drill/activity and/or be a shooter.  While Andrew will be leading the sessions, we do expect that coaches will be engaged, and not just observers.  While a strong leader is critical, given the number of goalies that we hope to expose to training this fall/winter, coach participation will be instrumental to the success of the overall development of goalies in Stittsville which ultimately leads to your teams overall success.
