Welcome

Welcome to the 2023-2024 hockey season, my name is Brent Strachan and I will be your U15 Rams Head Coach.  I’m excited and looking forward to coaching the U15’s with the goal of having a fun and successful season.  I encourage all 2009 players to come and try out for the U15 team.
 
Our U15 coaching staff will be focused on creating positive team culture with a team first attitude.  In addition to continued skill development on the ice, we will also be intruding new systems and concepts that will help the players continue to learn and see the game differently.  Physical conditioning will also be a focus both on and off the ice.   The coaching staff will be determined after the team is set.
 
For the tryouts we will have 3-5 non-parent evaluators in addition to 2 SMHA evaluators.  The evaluators will be looking for skilled, hardworking players with a relentless, never give up approach at both ends of the ice.  In addition, we will be looking for ‘coachable’ players with strong hockey sense who not only excel individually, but more importantly enhance the play of their line mates.  The evaluations will be done through inter-squad games and/or exhibition games.
 
Competitive hockey requires a commitment, players and parents should be prepared to commit to 4-6 sessions per week (this includes games, practices and off-ice training sessions).  The team will need to be a priority (games, practices and conditioning) only behind family and school.
 
From a financial perspective, each family will be required to pay $800 for Rams fees and $500 for team fees.  Additional costs will include track suits and or jackets along with tournament expenses.  There will be additional fundraising required that all players will be part of.
