From the SMHA President

The Executive is committed to working closely with all of the members and offering effective communication to ensure our athletes benefit positively from their minor hockey experience.

Since our last AGM our Executive have undertaken many changes that we believe will enhance our association and provide a better experience for all involved. We hope you will be supportive and satisfied with the following areas of advancement.‎

• All Midget B House program
• Three year partnership with our local Jr team
• Continued growth of our development and competitive programs 
• New Coach Mentor
• Additional ice at GRC
• New improved website
• New sponsorship and fundraising programs
• First Shift Program 
• New Financial Assistance program

As the 2014-15 season is about to get underway for both the Competitive and House Programs I would like to personally thank all of our volunteers (past, present and future) for the countless hours and sacrifices they make in order for our association to be successful. Their hard work and dedication is greatly appreciated.  I would encourage anyone with aspirations to volunteer for the association to do so, as it can be a truly rewarding experience.  Our success depends largely on volunteers and the participation of our members. 

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Past President Mike Clarkson for his 14 years of volunteering in the SMHA. Over the past 14 years, Mike has donated his time as a Trainer, Coach, Convenor, Director, Vice President and President.  In many cases he took on coaching and executive duties at the same time. Our association remains in a great place due to Mike's past leadership and expertise. The Executive welcomes his continued guidance as our new Past President.
